It's so great to be able to read about the experiences of other Sac-area gardeners.Saskiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12343140822642876573noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1040094306206601621.post-55801493844038530902012-09-18T09:37:54.048-07:002012-09-18T09:37:54.048-07:00I do three different types of fertilizers during t...I do three different types of fertilizers during the season -- a mix of organic and non-organic. The most powerful stuff in the fertilizer arsenal is Norwegian sea kelp, sold under the brand name of Maxicrop. This is a liquid fertilizer that is high in potassium and phosphorus. I also mix in some fish emulsion fertilizer and also try to put ordinary Miracle Gro into the overflow pipes in every drip manifold. The Miracle Gro application is very weak once it reaches all plants fed on the individual drip system, but the combination of all three items seems to pack a rather powerful punch. However, I probably stopped fertilizing about a month ago.Bill Birdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11816389236294882066noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1040094306206601621.post-42054206312773843122012-09-17T23:03:01.575-07:002012-09-17T23:03:01.575-07:00We're having a late surge of melons over here ...We're having a late surge of melons over here in Davis, too & my fingers are crossed on weather. Curious if you fertilize your melon plants with anything other than compost or manure at the start of the season. Mine aren't producing very many per vine.Saskia/Banyans Endhttp://banyans-end.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1040094306206601621.post-72920529791467185332012-09-16T12:58:56.158-07:002012-09-16T12:58:56.158-07:00And this is typically a time when most melon patch...And this is typically a time when most melon patches "play out."
